Mostly using two dimensional, simplistic designs, artists in the bohemian art category use carefully matched tones ranging from muted sepia and beiges through to lively and joyful turquoises, greens and blues. Because the designs are simple and the colors are usually complimentary, the artwork does not distract; the absence of clashing colors and complicated scenes gives the observer very little to analyze.
There are strong Middle Eastern, Indian and Malaysian influences throughout, with peacocks, owls and elephants being particularly popular. Using a technique that gives her work a batik-type effect, Melody Hogan’s bohemian art piece “Elephant Set 01” and “Peacock Feathers 02” give one a particularly peaceful feeling. Paula Scarletta uses sepias and brown tones to very good effect in her prints, “Italian Tile IV” and “Persian Tiles I”. Pela Studio has similar offerings with their works “From India II” and “From India III”.
