David Short Wall Art

David Short (Born 1940) is an artist who was born in Nottingham. His talent as an artist was noticed in his early years and he was encouraged by many people to pursue arts as a career. Short later attended the Nottingham School of Art. For several years, he painted as an amateur, spending a great amount of his time in Cornwall and Devon where he studied in-shore and sea boats. These later became a big part of his posters, prints and art. As his interest in art grew, he began to study the works of Henry Redmore and other 19th century artists.
Short traded in Nottingham lace, enabling him to support his painting, his main interest. His art is mainly inclined towards marine art, and that’s where his reputation was built around initially - his paintings, prints and drawings drew their main inspiration from the sea. However, Short has always felt that he needs to vary his subject matter; that’s why he is also exploring and working on other sceneries. His portfolio now includes beach scenes, landscapes, scenes of Tuscany, and more. He believes that by varying his subject matter, his art will remain fresh and this will also add to their collectability. Short’s works have been used in making greeting cards, fine art prints, and posters. Since achieving his ambition to become a full time artist, his paintings are now much sought after by discerning private collectors and galleries throughout the United Kingdom and the world at large.
