Emily Kalina decided to pursue the exciting world of textile and print design and left the gallery world in which she used to exhibit and sell her signature style of patterned, textured and layered watercolors. This was way back in 2009, and today she uses her watercolors as the foundation of her prints. Emily combines an innate sense of style and color with her sharp eye for trends to produce vibrant designs which appeal to a wide variety of audience and clientele. In 2010, her designs were featured in one of the top global trend magazines called Mix Magazine. The designs appeared as the popular trend to watch in 2012. The artist has worked with and sold to such companies as Michael Kors, Nine West Dress, Nordstrom, Barney’s New York, Elie Tahari, Anthropologie, Target, TJX and Nordstrom.
As an accomplished artist, Emily is currently inspired by the natural beauty of the Seacoast of New England. Currently, there are many stores where her greeting cards, postcards, prints, etc, can be found. She has a website that’s dedicated to a small selection of her print designs, paintings, and products. Just recently, she became become enamored with Maine Seacoast and the NH, creating paintings and prints inspired by the area. Apart from greeting and postcards, her prints can also be found on mugs, tote bags, and calendars which are found in a growing number of art stores around the world. In her paintings, she concentrates on light and color as expressions. The paintings are an indulgence in detail, water and color.
