Barathieu Gabriel is a renowned photographer from France. He was bitten by the photo bug when on a journey to the island of Réunion found in the Indian Ocean, and has never looked back since then. There, he works and lives and falls in love with the beauty of nature every day afresh. All his images are inspired by nature and it is nature that literally forced him to spend his cash on a digital underwater camera and diving equipment. He started diving in the year 2010 and half a year later, Gabriel took his first steps in underwater photography. He has stuck to it very much to the chagrin of his fans. His love for photography grows stronger and stronger as days go by. The water world around the island has much to offer: ship wrecks, caves, whales, coral reefs, and much more. The artist captures spectacular photographs of the migration of the big Humpback whales which takes place annually.
He’s always in the company of his friend called Yann Oulia. Macro photography is not his favorite. With his photography art, Gabriel wants to catch the atmosphere the Réunion waters have to offer. He says that this atmosphere is extremely beautiful, sometimes impressive, sometimes fairytale-like, but always meditative. It is in that special atmosphere that he wants to preserve in his photos. This explains why he always contextualizes his pictures in a way that touches the feelings of his viewers. Glowing, Intensive colors take those who view his art on a journey to the vivid and colorful underwater world.
