Sarah Butcher is a multi-talented artist who has several years of experience in painting, drawing, graphic design and digital photography. She enjoys natural subjects and figures and has affiliation with galleries and interior designers. Sarah believes in the philosophy of painters such as Hoffman Hans who said that as a teacher, his aim is to liberate his students from any academic inhibitions and allow them to exercise their creativity freely. Hans told his students that artists speak through their art and not through words. Sarah is good at painting from observation and actively practices this skill while at the same time teaching drawing to middle school students. She adheres to the philosophy of Betty Edwards. Sarah’s Graphic Design abilities include knowledge of layout the web and for print. She understands professional printing and painting considerations and the principles and elements of digital media (InDesign for Layout, Illustrator for drawing). She’s also proficient in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat.
Sarah is an art educator and an artist who has lived in Baltimore all her life. Her art has been described as diverse and clear with two different processes emerging: one process involves photography and digital tools while the other process employs canvas, traditional paint, and collage. Sarah strives to meet the needs of the learners of today; multi-tasking and more visual work oriented by acting as both guide and teacher. Software applications help her in speeding up the process of design and give her new ways to create. She’s able to achieve at a higher levels of accuracy than ever before.
