Kathleen Parr McKenna loves to paint with watercolors. She’s been creating artwork and designs for more than 35 years and it has always been fun. She says it’s a career and a job that is never tedious to her, but is always satisfying, rewarding and fulfilling. Kathleen has been licensing her images to the home decor and gift industry for more than 20 years, and this has brought so many wonderful people into her life. She’s had a great career with commissions, teaching and galleries, and so the transition into licensing was a smooth process to her. She attended The Interlochen Arts Academy, and holds degrees from The American Academy of Art and Lake Michigan College in Chicago. Even though watercolor has been considered by many to be the hardest media to work in, this artist mastered it explicitly and she’s been considered by some as the “guru” of watercolor.
Kathleen is busy all year round in her studio in Hawaii. She’s says it’s never hard for her to get up and go to the office there because the inspiration and beauty is all around and they unite with the emotions and serenity of the islands. Kathleen has corporate collections in various parts of the country. She has presented lectures and workshops in watercolor painting and for many years she’s held lessons in her studios annually for enthused watercolorists. Her responsiveness to her clients’ needs, her attention to detail, and her close attention to trends and expertise in product development have brought her superior sales and recognition.
