Simon Roux (Born 1933) was born in Lozeriens, Belgium. All his studies and professional life were in Belgium. He attended the ABC School of Bets in 1970. During his professional career, he did amateur painting during his spare time and so is a self-taught artist. Since his retirement in 1997, he lives in South of France where he works as a painter full time. At the beginning of his career as an artist, he painted in oil but later changed to acrylics. His preferred theme is landscapes. Today, he works as a professional artist based in Belgium. It was during the course of his practice that he discovered and developed his skill of painting. He has taken a number of workshops and classes which have helped him to hone his skill, but he’s basically a self taught painter. His love of arts can be traced to his childhood when he used to admire the works of the professional artists of that time.
He knew that one day he would become a professional artist, so he also used to study books of arts. His primary influencers are the artists of his time that he used to admire their works. He has been included in a number of solo and group shows in Belgium, where he currently lives. His first solo show was very successful and it has been followed by numerous other shows. Roux is open to criticism as he believes this is the best way he can learn and improve his work. In all the shows he has participated in, his art has been received warmly and has also received positive reviews from critics. His art can be seen hanging on the walls of many private homes and institutions.
