Louise van Terheijden (Born in 1954) currently lives and works in Tilburg, the Netherlands but she was born in Noordoostpolder (Ens) Netherlands. She graduated with a BFA in 1982 after studying painting in Den Bosch, the Netherlands at The Royal Academy for Art and Design. In that same year, Louise received the Lucas prijs s’Hertogenbosch award for her work. When painting, she follows her intuition and produces a mixture of figurative compositions and colorful abstract. Her recent works of art mainly consists of watercolor paintings. She taught drawing and painting in Waalwijk, Netherlands at Kunstencentrum Waalwijk from 1989 to 2013. Usually her works convey poetic experiences or tranquil moments, like moments frozen in time. Her inspiration can come from anywhere like a mood, a thought, a feeling or an emotion; or from simple things like a leaf, a flower or a pebble.
The artist finds inspiration in subjects that give her viewers joy and she strives to capture the feeling of contentedness and happiness “to just be” in her work. She has exhibited across the Netherlands and in many other places including Textielweekend Tilburg, Fabriano, Italy, Faxx zomersalon, Tilburg, Cenakel, Tilburg, Galerie de 21e eeuw, Hillegom, Galerie L’Arcu, Rockanje, Art Square, Den Haag, Onder de 100 galerie Kunstwan, Sojo Gallery, Amsterdam, StuArt Galerie, Bergen op Zoom, Faxx: Stadscollectie, Tilburg, Nieuwspoort, den Haag, Sojo Gallery, Amsterdam, Hof 88, Almelo, Galerie Pjotr, Tilburg, De Wandelgangen’, Goirle, and Galerie Pjotr, Tilburg. Her recent body of work consists mainly of watercolor paintings and her art is included in many private collections across the world.
