Steven Hill has been an artist since the day he picked-up his first crayons and pencils, making marks on most surfaces he could come across. He won his first big award in the fourth grade with "1st Place" in an art contest sponsored by the Red Cross in his hometown of Boise, Idaho. The contest covered the whole city and had so many contestants. Making art was the foundation that allowed him to survive high school, college and the United States Army, where he became an illustrator. In 1972, went back to the university and earned a Master of Fine Art degree in painting from Washington State University. Here, he studied with notable artists like Robert Sterling, Gaylen Hansen and Robert Helm, before moving to the San Juan Islands in Lopez Island of Washington State, to help set up a private art school.
This school was before its time, but he surely took to the island life, teaching art at Lopez High School. His was before he started his own successful graphic design business. In the late 90's, he sold the businesses to paint full-time, and he says this has proven to be totally rewarding. He’s received many prestigious honors and won many art awards over the past decade. His passion is to find special places and explore those with every element of his psyche. Hill is considered to be one of the best artists in the world today, and he’s the artists to go to for projects that require keenness to detail and those that require to be completed within the shortest time possible.
