Janelle Penner resides in British Columbia, Canada. She had found her inspiration from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest at an early age. As she grew up and came of age, her inspiration came from every art form; from advertising to the early masters, to modern day graphics. She’s primarily a self-taught artist, and has experimented with various mediums. Creating is always on her mind. Colors and images constantly flash before her eyes. Janelle is a mixed media artist, spilling herself onto her canvas in form and color. Where she resides, she’s surrounded by a small forest of houseplants that provide her with a great source of inspiration. The creative process makes her feel whole. She’s developed her own style of painting. Janelle never knows how a piece would turn out. Her only initial focus is the color she would use for the base, and then the rest just falls into place.
She paints until the product feels like the emotional idea she has in her mind. She uses many tools when she paints - sometimes a scraper, or a palette knife, her hands or even brush. Janelle is constantly trying and exploring new techniques and is open to learning. While painting, the hours she spends in the studio seem to fly by because she loves what she’s doing. She applies her paint carefully covering and blending or wiping away to leave a soft smooth layer. Today, she’s an established artist, who has worked for several prestigious clients for many years.
