KimcAninch is a full-time painter who lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a bias in Surface Pattern Design. For close to 20 years he designed all things woven or printed, primarily fabric and wallpaper. He later worked with two Cleveland, Ohio architecture firms as an Interior Designer. His goal in all of his artwork ad life is to deliberate the balance of design and representation, regardless of the subject. KimcAninch is particularly intrigued by abstraction, because it offers more information with less detail. He thinks that the path has been towards the creation of studies of time and place using an accurate understanding of color theory and design. He believes his work is expressionistic and is distinguished by the arbitrary and unique layering of complex colors with palette knife and brush.
He’s directed by the basics of design and he’s most intrigued by light. KimcAninch is powered by his own highly personal vision and he encourages people who view his work to consider his process of decision-making. KimcAninch says that painting is an unselfish endeavor and a day of successful painting is the best of all the days. He wishes for his viewers to arrive at a personal interpretation and determination, based on their own experiences and therefore, apart from reference, he prefers not to name his work. He hopes that his appeal is positive. Instead of trying to reproduce exactly what he has before his eyes, he uses color more at random, in order to express himself.
