Jerry LoFaro initially thought of careers like ice cream man, baseball player, zoologist and paleontologist but later on his interest shifted to animals, dinosaurs, art history, fantasy, and literature, and this turned into a successful career as an illustrator. From 1980 to 1981, LoFaro was at S.U.N.Y., New Paltz for his formal art education. He also attended the Art Students League of New York where he got valuable lessons in figure drawing conducted by Gustav Rehberger. His art can be seen on the book covers of leading publishers including Viking Penguin, Harcourt, Random House, Avon, Ballentine, Time Life, and Bantam. He has also created promotional and advertising illustrations for a wide variety of clients such as: Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Levi’s, Aflac, Claritin, Disney, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Nike, Time Magazine, Minolta, Panasonic, Haagen-Daz, San Francisco Ballet, Kellogg’s, Trojan, Purina, Kleenex, Dole Foods, The Jacksonville Jaguars, AT&T, and the MGM Grand Hotel.
He has also exhibited many paintings in many places and his art has been selected for 13 Society of Illustrators Annual Shows. He has received many awards including a Bronze Medal from The Society of Illustrators of L.A., The Vargas Award for lifetime achievement in illustration, The Grand Master Award from Ballistic Publishing, The Excellence Award, a Gold Medal from The Society of Illustrators of NY, New Hampshire Artist of the Year Award, among others. In his adopted state, LoFaro enjoys speaking at schools, and hosting field trips at his studio. He began teaching Advanced Digital Art In 2010, at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.
