Kate Larsson was born and grew up in Tacoma, WA. In her early 20s she moved to Gothenburg, Sweden and lived there for nine years. Her favorite art is from the Impressionist and Fauvist periods which are reflected in her own artistic style. Kate studied at Gothenburg University and traveled throughout Europe. What instilled in her a life long respect and love of artists and their work were her visits to the fabulous museums in France, England, Turkey, Portugal, Greece, Russia and Germany. She returned to the United States In 1976 and joined the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA where she graduated with a degree in Business and Economics. After graduation, Kate began working as a Marketing Executive for Xerox Corporation. In 1996, she took her first watercolor class at a local community college while still working at Xerox.
She fell in love with watercolor and decided to set up a working studio in her living room and began to paint every day for 3 to 4 hours. She began teaching herself to paint by taking art classes from local artists and borrowing books from the local library. Her unique painting vision and style comes directly from her experience and non-traditional art education. In 1998 she had her first solo show and was accepted into her first art gallery. She also started entering other juried events and fine art shows. She continued exhibiting in Art Galleries including Freighthouse Art Gallery, The Clymer Museum, Kimball Art Gallery, Evergreen Hospital and East Shore Gallery.
