Wellington Studio occupies space at the back of a small-town gallery in Canada. It is a large bright studio - a traditional working studio with many junior artists working under the tutelage and creative eye of James Wiens, a senior artist. Each piece of art from Wellington Studio is a result of collaboration among the group member. That’s why they are of the best quality. The artists’ mix of styles, creative minds, and genres is refreshing, always resulting in something new, exciting and creative. The leader of the group, James Wiens is inspired by the vast beauty of nature. He has been a professional artist for more than two decades. He has been using canvas or the texture of wood as the base of his creations. Wiens paints mainly in oils. For him being an artist is who he is. He’s always been an artist. There’s nothing else he wants to do.
His artwork reflects his love of nature and landscapes. He is an avid lifelong outdoorsman who studied in Vancouver at the Emily Carr College of Art & Design, where she earned a diploma in painting and printmaking. He captures his subject matter in a style he simply describes as “easy.” His success and the success of Wellington Studio can be attributed to his dedication, hard work and versatility. Wiens has applied the work ethic he gained on his family farm to his more than 30-year career as a professional artist. The artists at Wellington Studio are also dedicated to their work and are strongly inspired by Wiens.
