Jennifer Weber was born and raised in Ontario. Her first art instruction began as a young person when she joined her mother for evening oil painting classes. She used to observe her mother work and this experience taught her the foundations of building up the layers and constructing a scene. in her formal education, she never pursued the arts but trained as a pilot and was given a pilot’s license. In the mid 90’s, her working career ended when she started raising a family. In 2003, she had a chance of meeting with an artist on Vancouver Island in her new town of Courtenay and this initiated a future and a change within the arts community. The three years that followed saw her actualize her dream of having commercial space where she could create and showcase her work.
Here, she collaborated with four other professional artists and together they established a studio/gallery in Courtenay, BC, Art Alchemy, which still operates to date without her involvement. Jennifer currently works from her home studio found in the town of Comox, BC. In the process of creating, she’s discovering more of herself, where her spirit lies. She travels from the comfort of her studio to places of her own making to get the subjects and inspiration for her artwork. The artist has had a chance to exhibit at Kitty Coleman, Comox Marina, Corre Alice Gallery, Blue Moon Winery, Art Alchemy, Purple Onion Deli, Serious Coffee, Muir Gallery, Hydro Box, and Magnolia Gallery & Garden Center, among others.
