Kiana Mosley is a designer and artist born in Hawaii but raised in Southern California, then moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest and started her own family. She’s a lifelong mentored but self taught artist who studied as a Graphic designer at OSU. Music, performance art, and visual art have always been an integral part of her life and upbringing. After a major clearance of her suppressive emotions, she decided to take art as her full time career. Her insatiable thirst for experimentation and creativity paired with her life experiences, truly allows her to work with varying mediums and within many style genres. Her inspiration comes from everywhere, and her current work reflects affinity for and inspiration from nature and how expressionist styles and the abstract color field apply to the subject matter.
Kiana begins each piece, sometimes with certain intention – but in the process allows the painting the freedom to take on life of its own, natural and uninhibited even from the confines of her brush or fingers. She truly became fond of watercolors after experimenting with it as she would in oil and acrylic which she considers as "staining" styles of work - the fluidity of working with watercolors, the beautiful and yet unforgiving accidents that seem to occur when working with it all add to the fun. Her unique interpretation of the watercolor and abstract pieces attracted the online art world and the curators and designers, and this made her art to be very popular. She travels frequently and has an online boutique and a large number of licensed works.
