Barruf (Born in 1985), also known as Duarri Cédric D’Haene, is a self-taught artist who was born and raised in Barcelona. He never thought of being an artist until he was 27 years old, after experiencing surrealistic moments in his life. The artist defines himself as a person with artistic and personal inquisitiveness that’s practically insatiable. He perceives art as an inner need: to communicate, express, create and understand himself. Since childhood, the artist has felt a strong passion with animals and nature; this bond led him to study Biology to help him understand animals and nature better. This interest and string passion can be seen in his illustrations, where animals are often the leading characters. His works continue to fascinate many collectors because of the unique style in which he produces them. This style has made his art to be easily recognizable.
His art has been the subject of many publications, and are represented in many corporate and museum collections. In his art, he feels comfortable and experiments with different techniques and styles, both digital and traditional; this is to increase the collectability of his art. However, illustration is his most frequent and preferred artistic form of expression; and nib traditional (traditional pen) is his preferred tool. The artist usually seeks for detail in his art but doesn’t pretend to ever find himself in hyperrealisms or realisms, but rather in natural sensations and forms, and if possible with a touch of reflection or humor. He loves what he does and wishes that he started doing it earlier in his life.
