Joe & Mary Ann McDonald are both photographers as well as naturalists. They are the most productive and dynamic husband-wife nature photography team in the United States today. They spend at least 6 months each year in the field, leading photo safaris to Africa and leading photo tours to various US destinations. They also cover other remote destinations and conduct digital photography classes and courses at their studio in Pennsylvania and other locations in the United States. Joe has been a wildlife and nature photographer since 1966. He started with images of his pet snakes, turtles, and lizards he made while still fresh in high school. By that time he was selling photos to the National Wildlife Federation, and when he joined college he started publishing in that magazine. He has been published in every natural history publication in the U.S. since then; including Bird Watcher's Digest, Audubon, Defenders, Birder's World, Natural History, Living Bird, Ranger Rick, National and International Wildlife, Wildlife Conservation, Smithsonian, and more.
Mary has been a professional wildlife and nature photographer since 1990. Her interest in photography was ignited when she took a photo workshop run by Joe, her future husband. Mary’s photographs have been published in most natural history magazines in America, including Natural History magazine and cover credits with calendars. She has written several children's books, including Grizzly Bears, Leopards, Flying Squirrels, Woodpeckers, Boas, Cobras, Garter Snakes, Pythons, Jupiter, Rattlesnakes, Horses, Cows, Ducks, Chickens, and Sunflowers. Joe and Mary offer the best in small-group wildlife and nature photography photo tours, workshops, and safaris, both foreign and domestic.
