Lina Alattar draws from her varied life occurrences to investigate concepts that deal with evolving identity. By the age of 12, she had already lived on 3 continents, and her work explores belonging, rootlessness, our shared human experience and identity. Her paintings are part of a series that investigates humans and the world around us - our shadows, our light, and our wholeness. Lina has a passionate and long obsession with space, shape and color. She’s especially attracted to emotive paradox - chaotic and serene, messy and lush, intense and loose - made substantial through the painted landscape. Her art offers intimate, expressive and bold abstract paintings. She uses color and brushstrokes in a way that creates an atmospheric landscape paying homage to Abstract Expressionism.
She’s committed to the working process so that the final product can engage the viewer to appreciate the product’s intriguing, meditative, and sensual qualities. She has been a professional artist for more than 15 years, and in each of her paintings, she tries to discover the stillness, balance and meaning in our everyday lives. Lina holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree which she obtained from Middle Tennessee State University. She specialized in graphic design and painting. She currently lives and works in Fairfax, Virginia. She continued with her art education through an Art Study Program in Gubio, Italy; and also at The George Washington University. Her work can be seen in medical offices, private practices and residences, as well as in regional galleries throughout the Washington, DC area.
