Amanda J. Brooks is an artist whose unique work reflects the casual, contemporary and colorful lifestyle of the scenic Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Living in the Noosa hinterland on Sunshine Coast Amanda shares a home with her Husband, Twins Jasper and Indigo, and their young daughter Coco. She works on large canvases producing images that are vibrant and highly textured. The images incorporate stenciled damask textures, decoupage antique music notes, oil pastels, metallic leaf work, and poetic script that reflect her love of the coast, music and nature. From her ocean pools whimsical hummingbirds, to her patchworks of beautiful kitchen finery, fruit, and bowls, her art captures form and light in a breathtaking manner. She enjoys figure painting and drawing tasteful nudes and also has an interest in the human form.
Amanda’s dedication and keenness in observing nature is displayed in the way she approaches her highly textured whimsical figurines, contemporary landscapes, and floating hummingbirds. She says that when one is in touch with nature no season can pass unnoticed. The artist comes from a family of musicians, dancers and artists. She started her career as a graphic designer, and then moved on to teach painting. This has brought to her work lifelikeness and discipline that is often hard to find in the works of other contemporary painters. Her attention to composition, detail, interesting layers of textures and paint washes and an eye for color have made Amanda’s work to be highly priced. Her art is represented in private and public collections throughout, Europe, South-east Asia, Australia and the United States.
