Horto Van Houtteano was known for his botanical prints. He was a Belgian visual artist who was active during the 19th century. Several of his works have been sold at auction. He was always looking for people to collaborate with and for great new projects. With a strong academic background and experience, his art has gained recognition from his peers and critics. During his time, Houtteano was the person to employ for projects that required great creative and critical thinking, combined with a strong sense of design with the ability to use any medium or platform. He received recognition and several honors and awards. Houtteano had a unique style in which he added "earthier" palette to his colorful, bold and bright palette.
His work took a turn in technique and style that he described as an approach that was freer and that was in alignment to his belief. He said that while his studio may have appeared as though he was painting alone, in truth, he was dancing and with many muses. Typically, Houtteano would develop an idea for a piece and tactfully maneuver the unforeseen outcome. Much of his work is whimsical because, he said, “the voice to "lighten up" is crucial in our world. He approached the white canvas with vague expectations and allows the process to dictate the end result. He combined a unique sense of personal intimacy with a sense of humor leaving the viewer inspired. His work has been brought into countless businesses, homes, and exhibited all over the world.
