Julia Minasian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Rochester, New York. This has provided a great base for her career in the Surface Design Industry. Julia is an internationally recognized surface designer and commercial artist based in the San Francisco Bay. She first hand-prints her designs before producing them digitally; her process begins with an exercise on paper, allowing her hand to sweep the brush onto the page with a flow of color. Known for color and whimsy, her loose floral interpretations, bold geometrics, and icon-driven art, are a youthful fusion of striking original pattern and international trends. Music, a lighted aromatherapy candle and placid breeze from an open window set a great ambiance in her attic studio. It’s here that she does her magic on paper adding nuance and gesture. The results are marvelous, delightfully sensory in form and color.
She attended the California School of Professional Fabric Design from where she received two awards for excellence. Since her graduation, she has worked as freelance and in-house designer for several leading bay area companies including Dena Designs and Pottery Barn Kids, all while at the same time licensing her art successfully through trade shows. Her designs have sold internationally in national chains including as well as in small gift shops: Ross, Target, Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Walmart, Tuesday Morning, Meijers, Macy’s, Costco, Cost Plus, Bloomingdales, and many more. Her work has featured on products for companies such as Allstrong, ABCD Designs, Bradford Exchange, Ambiance, Coastline Imports, Bradkin Group, Dena Designs, Creative Converting, DII, Diligence, Destination Linens, Evergreen Enterprises, Inc., etc.
