Dee Dee was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She has achieved many regional and national awards with her art, including Best of Show at the Puyallup Art Show where there were over 1000 entries, and the Washington State Ducks Limited Artist of the Year. She became first in the Artist’s Magazine national competitor where there were more than 1600 entries, and was in top 20 in the Federal Duck Stamp competition, a highly competitive show, as well as many others. Her main interest in art subjects are wildlife, dogs and horses, but she paints other subjects as well including abstract figures. Dee Dee’s love for animals shows through in her art where she strives to capture the essence and personality of the individual animal, as well as close attention to detail correct and anatomy.
She prefers to work on smooth surfaces such as hot press watercolor paper or gessobord, as it lends itself well to the level of detail she aims to achieve. Dee Dee works mainly in graphite and acrylic. She has a full schedule of commissioned pet portraits, of dogs, horses, cats and other animals. Dee Dee enjoys riding horses, spoiling Hallie, training Hallie and photography during her free time. She made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for Equestrian Marathon together with her friend. What inspire her most when coming up with an idea for painting are horses in beautiful backgrounds, and moments in time when all of the elements come together. She wants to make her scenes real to make her viewers feel they have actually been at the scenes.
