Tom Reeves (Born 1967) was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He currently lives with his wife and three children in Riverside, California. Reeves knew he wanted to be an artist even before he devoted his life to art. His parents wanted him to be a lawyer but he says the words in his term papers were less impressive than the doodling on the papers. After he moved to California, Reeves worked as a residential and commercial painter and later did murals and paintings on canvas. Reeves did not begin painting for others until after college and after the birth of his first child. His wife encouraged him to follow his dreams. He is inspired by art. Reeves loves to attend exhibitions at local galleries and especially at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
His touch is in abstract and his style is contemporary. It’s about design and color. For Reeves, it’s not just about another subject; it’s about reflecting his mood. He loves doing something that he loves. Even in the lean months he knows that he is blessed to being doing what he does. He mainly paints using acrylic paints, and for his reproduction and giclee work, he is able to use digital methods to clean up and perfect his art. Call him old fashioned, he prefers the brush over the mouse. Much of his work is influenced by the life in California – the people, the landscapes, etc, and all these show in some of his abstract works.
