Mali Nave (Born in 1971) was born in Israel but was brought up in Melbourne, Australia. In the early 90s, she moved to Los Angeles where she fell in love with the cosmopolitan, sunny west coast atmosphere. She was mostly inspired by the vintage art and the beauty of nature, and enjoyed creating work that is a mix of new and old; fresh and classic. She continues to work using that style to date. After gaining a lot of experience from Los Angeles, she decided to move back to Israel and joined the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, Ram-Gan, Israel, where he majored in Printing and graduated in 1997. She and also received a BA in Textile Design. Mali was so much impressed with her education and life at Shenkar College that she decided to return to the school as a member of the faculty, and she was engaged in teaching Computer Design for Prints and Textiles, a position she still holds today.
She worked diligently for 5 years as a web designer, but always felt an urge to return to her old love - textiles for the home industry; and that’s what she did. Mali has produced several pieces of art which are availed in a variety of finishing options. Her main product groups include printed fabrics, wall paper, bedding, and woven fabrics for drapery and furniture. Mali often travels to the USA and Europe, selling and showing her designs to companies within these product groups. Her art is admired by all – both artists and non-artists. She currently owns a studio in Israel, where she represents and works with other designers in the home industry.
