Onan Balin (Born in 1970) was born in Kowloon, China. He spent several hours of his childhood in his room drawing. Balin loved art from his childhood. As a young boy, Balin quickly developed a reputation for being mischievous at school. This shocked his parents since at home he spent hours in his room drawing. The artist would prove his quiet strength and complexity throughout his life. Even though his teacher's eyes were watchful, he excelled at his schoolwork. Although he always continued working on at as a hobby, he went ahead and attended Shandong University to study Finance. It was a career in Finance that led him to the US in the 1990s, a country whose atmosphere he found to be liberating compared to China.
This gave him the opportunity to immerse himself in his artistic passions and allowed his artwork to be his major focus in his life. Balin’s work is collected both in the United States and internationally, and is exhibited around the country. He continued to draw in the quiet moments of his life, but it always remained in the background. In the U.S., he began a period of growth where his love for art became the main focus of his life. The artist’s latest collection appeared for the first time at ArtExpo New York where they were received warmly by viewer s and critics. His work continues to be sought nationally and internationally. His artwork is suggestive of the imposing landscapes of Kowloon, his childhood home.
