Rebecca Swanson moved east from Sacramento, California to Ohio when she was 4 years old. While in Ohio, she spent time with her grandmother who was a china painter. Rebecca loved what her grandmother was doing and she could admire her paint flowers on plates and vases. She also tried to copy what her grandmother was doing. Rebecca’s mother was an avid gardener and Rebecca also spent time with her and she taught her to appreciate the beauty of nature. Rebecca knew that one day she would become an artist. Today she has managed to produce numerous pieces of art and her art can be found in many showrooms including Charlotte Moss Townhouse, Kip’s Bay Decorator Show House, and Lorin Marsh Showroom, D & D Building, among others. Rebecca studied at The Cleveland Institute of Art after she moved to New York City.
After her graduation, she worked as a Print Stylist and Textile Designer, primarily styling and painting floral prints for lingerie and swimwear. She has been exhibiting her artwork since 1995. Her art is found in numerous private and corporate collections including Banana Republic Stores, The Ontological Museum, Amelia Island, Omni Hotel, Harry Ransom Research Center Hudson Valley Hospital, Montefiore Medical Center, Atlanta, The Buckhead Marriott, Buckshead St. Regis Hotel, etc. Rebecca is also a photographer. She has photographed flowers in botanical gardens as a creative outlet, and printed them in black-and-white silver gelatin prints in the darkroom. She creates images that integrating the fine art of painting and photography.
