Dussurgey (Born 1819 – Died 1902) was a French visual artist known for his beautiful flower paintings. Several works by Dussurgey have been sold at auction, including Red and white flowering oleander sold at Ketterer Kunst Munich in 2014 ('Old Masters & Art of the 19th Century'). He worked as an artist for so many years and his work has reached many parts of the world. He was good in design and working using his hand and was lucky that in those days, all painting work was done using simple art materials. Combing his talent and his education, he was able to produce stunning pieces of art that earned him repute. From his perspective, even though it was a difficult task, he liked it and was able to produce elegant art, and he also loved the hard deadlines imposed by his clients because he was hard-worker.
The works he produced show great talent in a more hands-on approach to image making. The freedom and the friendly environment where he lived gave him an opportunity to exercise his creativity to the fullest. Dussurgey loved art from a tender age and was inspired to take art as a career when he was still in lower grades. He grew up with a strong passion for all living things, especially the plants. Dussurgey’s works stand out because he took his time to include the tiny details that most artists usually ignored. This keenness to detail made him gain respect and acclaim even among her fellow artists.
