Norm Olson is an artist who has worked in many different media. His current work is in abstract collage, with acrylic, pastel and oil. He was born in Chicago, IL. Currently, he lives and works in Athens, GA with his wife Winterle Charlene who is also an artist. Olson attended Florida State University on a football scholarship and completed his BA and Masters of Fine Art. Olson coached football, wrestling and track for many years while pursuing art as a sideline. He has been painting full time for more than 28 years and he has been successful with his artwork ever since he started serious work in art. Olson paints emotional and expressive scenes inspired by the landscape. Olson and his wife work in a studio in their backyard and spend their free time exercising.
They go to University of Georgia gymnastics and play basketball, and also train their extremely friendly puppy called Pudge. In some of Olson’s landscapes, you can easily sense the faint outline of trees, glowing golden and soft or misty and faint blue. In other landscapes you can glean contemplative skies and sprays of water while gazing upon his ethereal scenes. But mostly the pieces are the pure imagination, at once meditative and joyous. The family moved from Atlanta to Athens to live closer to some of their combined 6 grown up children. They say that they promptly fell in love with everything from the food, art, restaurants and music to their historic Cobbham neighborhood.
