Mari Giddings Wall Art

Mari Giddings (Born 1959) was educated in the fine art of printmaking. After that, she worked with master printers Wayne Kimball and Dan Britten at Arizona State University. Mari was a hard worker, and in 1986, she became Robert A. DeVoe’s chief assistant. Robert was master printer at Phoenix Art Press. Two years later Mari opened her own studio in northern Arizona where she happily painted and explored the wilderness landscapes for several years, an influence that is still evident in even her most abstract art prints and posters. Her paintings, prints, posters and art, can be found in numerous corporate and private collections, including those of GTE-Sylvania and America West. She now directs the Willow Art Group in Phoenix, Arizona. Creating large canvases for public spaces has become a special interest of hers for the past few years. She has exhibited her work in numerous group shows and over a dozen solo shows.

Mari works in a variety of styles, from cubist abstraction to naturalistic landscapes, yet she sees no contradiction in these approaches. In 1995 she co-founded the Planet Art Group in Phoenix, Arizona. Mari says that the best art helps break down perceptions that are so taken for granted, that are so deeply ingrained that they seem real. For her, successful art destroys the obvious connections by which people construct their realities and make new connections. Mari believes that art is never a finished product, but it’s an immediate, living, moving process which begins again with all poster, prints and art, with every viewer realizing infinite alternatives from their own perception.
