Melissa Dawn (Born 1983) is a self-taught American artist who was raised in Northern California. Melissa always enjoyed crafting and beading but she never imagined that one day she would become an artist. However, in 2006 she discovered a fairy art at a local county fair and instantly fell in love with art. This was after she graduated from college. While working towards a Master's Degree in Library Science, Melissa dedicated between 12 and 14 hours of her time daily for painting. And by the time she was ready to graduate, she had already begun selling her jewelry and artwork, she later decided to pursue a career in art.
Since she was painting fairies, angels and angel cats, Melissa opened up her art business under the name "Spellbound Wings” in 2007. To her surprise, the angel cats became her best sellers and she happily began painting more of them. Slowly they took over, until she was painting winged cats almost exclusively. In 2010, Melissa changed the name of her business to Melissa Dawn Art.
Melissa is now an internationally licensed artist with a fan base all over the world. She has shipped to all 50 states in the US and to more than 20 countries. She continues to exercise her crafting creativity and has created a wide range of accessories, gifts and jewelry featuring her feline friends. All items in Melissa's studio are lovingly created and are handcrafted with the greatest care. Melissa currently resides in Washington with her husband Tim. They share their home with the most beautiful baby boy and four tuxedo cats.
