Deborah Falls Wall Art

Deborah Falls holds a B.S. of Fine Arts in Drawing and Printmaking from Skidmore College, and also completed her graduate studies at East Carolina University and San Diego State University where she studied Fabric Design and Printmaking respectively. She began her design work in 1996, and her works now appear in Connecticut, Boston, Vermont and New Hampshire. Based in New England, the artist has produced and designed fabrics for the interior design trade for more than 25 years. Her paintings are done using fiber reactive silk dyes on hand woven Indian dupioni. Previously, he worked in many different art forms including drawing, printmaking, mixed media and painting. Her fabric lines are carried in designer showrooms in Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, and Palm Beach, Florida.

She has attended many shows and exhibitions including the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, Bethesda Fine Arts Festival, American Craft Council, Norwich Farmers’ Market, Armonk Art Festival, Smithsonian Craft Show, Gracie Square Art Show, Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival, and Berkshires Arts Festival, to mention just a few. Deborah was drawn to working with dyes and silk because of the wonderful texture of the silk and the vibrant colors of the dyes. Being self-taught in dyes and silk, the artist had no idea of traditional silk painting and therefore developed her own way of managing and applying the unmanageable dyes. She has worked in many different art forms including mixed media, painting, printmaking, drawing and textile design. Her imagery changed to realistic from abstract in the form of botanicals when she began planting her own gardens.
