Len Abbott Wall Art

Leonard Abbott was born and brought up in Atlanta, Georgia. In his childhood, he grew up surrounded by a family of accomplished artists. Abbott considered himself a distinctly Southern artist from the beginning of his own artistic pursuits, drawing upon the spontaneous and self-taught spirit of those around him. For most of his youth, he was self-taught as an artist, but a few years after high school, Abbott enrolled in the Atlanta College of Art where he plunge himself into his passion for painting. He began to focus more and more on his artistic pursuits, and in his 3rd year, he discovered and fell in love with Abstract Expressionism. He especially admires the mixture of contrasting elements forming the foundation of Abstract Expressionism: the rigorous attention to detail and the freeness of the brushstroke.

After his graduation from high school, he set out across the US, seeking inspiration from the myriad facets and cultures of the country. Abbott was particularly impressed by the Painted Desert and Yellowstone Forest. Abbott returned to Atlanta one year later, and attended the Atlanta College of Art, where he truly began to focus solely on the medium of paint. He realized that he would soon require a deeper reservoir of professors, so he transferred to the University of Georgia in Athens, where he got the opportunity to work with Jim Herbert, a world-renowned painter. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree two years later, and later, he received his Master of Fine Arts Degree. Abbott‘s art has been awarded and featured in several juried exhibitions such as the Lyndon House, OCAF, and Gold Star.
