Scripture art, otherwise known as Bible verse art, is found in the households of Christian followers all over the world. This form of art has been embraced by contemporary artists of faith with an enthusiasm rarely seen in other categories of art. Unlike traditional artists, these artists aren't trying to depict stories of the Bible, although some may use biblical images that are associated with the work's theme, but they are trying to provide easily accessible inspiration for the everyday believer.

Scripture pictures focus on verses that apply to common situations. Love, faith, hope, family, truth, and belief are themes typically associated with these works of art. Much in the same way that reading the Bible is supposed to help believers understand God and affirm their faith, the artists that create scripture art want to provide a strengthening influence in the homes of believers in order to reassure them and act as an inspiration for living a godly life.

This type of spiritual encouragement is believed to be why this particular category of art has become increasingly popular for Christian households and churches as a decoration choice. Curiously, not all scripture art has to have words in order to fit into this category. Paintings that depict a symbolized event, such as Psalms 23 or the Lord's Prayer, can also be placed in this category because it's a visual interpretation of the actual scripture rather than a pictorial account of biblical events.
